Howard Archer COUNTRY INTELLIGENCE – EUROPE AND CIS
Dr. Howard Archer is Managing Director of European Forecasting and Analysis for Global Insight's Country Intelligence Group. Prior to this, he was chief European economist of Standard & Poor's DRI, which he had joined in June 2000. Archer manages a team of economists responsible for Global Insight's European macroeconomic work, and is heavily involved in all aspects of the analysis. He makes frequent presentations at seminars and conferences on behalf of Global Insight, and personally meets with clients. He also deals extensively with the media and is widely quoted in the press. Prior to joining DRI, Archer was senior economist in NatWest Group's market intelligence department. He was responsible for the overall production of the department's major publication and in charge of the international forecasts. He also wrote briefing papers for the bank's senior executives. Archer is the author of several professional and academic articles that have appeared in publications such as the CBI European Business Handbook, as well as in the Accountancy and Treasurer magazines. Archer holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in multinational businesses from the University of Reading. He also holds a Master of Arts from the University of Reading and a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) from the University of Surrey.
