Global Insight, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to our Global Energy Group: Jim Walker, Managing Director of North American Natural Gas; and Gerry Yurkevicz, Managing Director of North American Power. By leveraging Global Insight's vast economic and industry resources, Walker and Yurkevicz will further strengthen our ability to provide the most comprehensive expertise on Global Energy markets.

Jim Walker is the Managing Director of Global Insight's North America Natural Gas team and is responsible for strategic research and analysis. He is currently leading a multi-client study entitled Bridging the Methane Gap: Resolving the Growing Gap between Natural Gas Supply and Demand, and contributes extensively to our natural gas publications including the new Natural Gas Monthly and the Natural Gas Weekly. Walker also provides thought leadership on clean energy and global climate change technologies, regulations, and market trends.

Walker has 30 years of energy experience in the power and natural gas industry. Previously, he was a director with Sun Microsystems, where he traveled the world meeting with utility executives and delivered senior-level presentations. At Forrester Research, where he worked prior to this, Walker's future-trends analysis reports were widely used by utilities and reprinted in leading publications. Walker also consulted for Cambridge Energy Research Associates developing strategic scenarios of future retail power and gas markets following deregulation and founded XENERGY Inc.'s Energy Supply Management business.

Walker has an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Sloan School of Management and a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Walker co-founded the MIT Enterprise Forum's Energy Special Interest Group and also serves on the Board of Directors of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge.

Gerry Yurkevicz is the Managing Director of North American Power and is responsible for building our strategic consulting activities, retainer products, and research capabilities in the very large and dynamic North American power segment. He is currently creating a new advisory service for electric and gas utilities designed to help them predict supply chain costs and constraints for materials, labor, and services for major capital expenditures.

Yurkevicz has more than 20 years of experience with utilities, energy marketers, and oil and gas companies. Most recently, he worked for Concentric Energy Advisors (CEA), where he provided consulting services to major East Coast utilities. Typical projects involved asset valuations, marketing and selling physical assets, testimony preparation, and due diligence services. Prior to this, he worked for Providence Energy/Providence Gas, where he was instrumental in developing the strategic direction for natural gas and electricity markets, energy services, fuel oil distribution, and the non-utility business. Finally, he also worked for Mercer Management Consulting as a Principal in their Energy Practice.

Yurkevicz has an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA in Economics from Amherst College.
