European Light Vehicle Production CO2 Forecasting Service
In response to the new CO2 emission targets legislation being introduced by the European Commission, IHS Global Insight has developed the European Light Vehicle Production CO2 Forecasting Service to assist automotive vehicle and technology manufacturers with forecasting CO2 performance for vehicles produced in Europe up to five years out.
Built on a solid foundation of IHS Global Insight's automotive market and technology expertise, the methodology for our CO2 production forecasting service is based on an analysis of the major factors that influence the CO2 emissions of vehicles. This service consequently provides an indicator of the most likely future CO2 output by vehicle model based on future technology adoption, providing useful insights into European vehicle production CO2 trends.
The new service offers:
- The ability to perform vehicle make and model-level analysis
- CO2 performance ratings reported by vehicle manufacturer and OEM Group
- The potential to forecast competitor vehicle's CO2 performance for benchmarking purposes
- Quick assessments of the medium-term CO2 impact of individual technology solutions
- Analysis based on IHS Global Insight industry-leading Powertrain Service
Powertrain Service
Powertrain Forecasting Service provides a worldwide accounting of car and light truck production, disaggregated to show engine and transmission detail, with both historical statistics and forecasts over the next six years. It facilitates analysis of vehicle production by platform, model, engine, and transmission variant with access to many powertrain attributes. The attributes are specified—including power output, torque, aspiration, engine management information, driveline torque management/distribution, and much more. The data is supplemented by clear and concise analysis of future engine assumptions by OEM, with related commentary by senior automotive analysts.
With higher oil prices and increased focus on environmental issues, anticipating and understanding how powertrain long-term trends are going to develop over the coming years in individual markets has become an increasingly complex task. In order to be able to better support our clients in their assessments of alternative future powertrain strategies, we have developed the 10-year global powertrain production forecast service in the industry. The 10-year forecast brings relevant issues into context and will also help clients by providing the required time perspective for their strategic planning. It also features 10-year engine cycle charts for most major vehicle manufacturers in the different markets and regions.
The forecast is available for all light-vehicle manufacturers' production across up to 52 countries and is refreshed quarterly, semiannually, or annually. Custom deliveries can be accommodated. IHS Global Insight's powertrain production forecast provides the most extensive geographic coverage on engine and transmission details in the industry.
You can access the data via AutoInsight Data. Supplemental commentary and rationale, together with clear and comprehensive engine product cycles, are also available in MyInsight.
For clients interested in a further extended long-term outlook, IHS Global Insight can also offer multi-client studies on both Light Vehicle and Heavy Duty Vehicle Future Powertrain Technologies, providing share projections by major region for alternative powertrain technologies (e.g. core engines, fuel type, hybrids and core transmissions) up to 2025 (light vehicles) and 2020 (heavy duty) respectively.
